Petkovic: Attempt to ban Serb List from running in elections is evidence of Pristina's fear of Serb unity
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said last night that Albin Kurti's attempt to illegally ban the participation of the Serb List in the upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija is the best indicator of how scared Pristina and its followers are of Serb unity, as well as of the strength of the Serb List candidates.
"They know it very well in Pristina that they cannot defeat the Serb List, so they want to ban it. Kurti knows who Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija trust and vote for, and that there is no money, no blackmail, no force with which he can make anyone support his (Serb) proteges who ask how high when he says jump," Petkovic stated.
He stressed that this is why Kurti has set out to try to eliminate the Serb List, but that he will not be able to do that, "just as he will not be able to install his henchmen in the parliamentary seats (reserved for Serbs)."
"What President Aleksandar Vucic spoke about after the sabotage on the Ibar-Lepenac canal has come true, and that is that Kurti will try to ban the Serb list in order to leave the Serb people in Kosovo without protection," added Petkovic.
In a statement, he noted that the Office has informed the entire international community about this new instance of violence and illegal moves made by Pristina, and that they expect an adequate and uncompromising reaction.
Two members of the election commission from Kurti's Self-Determination Movement voted on Monday against the certification of the Serb List for the upcoming elections in the autonomous province of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Serb List was given 48 hours to appeal this decision.
