The state of health of President of the Serb Republic (RS) Milorad Dodik is good, and the postoperative course is proceeding as expected, the Office of the RS President has announced.

"According to information we received from the doctors, it is expected that the president of the Republic will be discharged from the hospital during the weekend to continue treatment at home," a statement said.

Dodik was hospitalized on December 8 in Belgrade due to stomach pains, and the next day he underwent emergency surgery.

The stomach and esophagus surgery was complicated, but it was successful. Dodik will now be recovering, given the complexity and specificity of the operation.

Dodik said a day after his surgery that he felt well and expressed gratitude to everyone who sent him messages of support and wishes for a speedy recovery, stressing that this gives him particular strength.
