Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said last night, speaking about former Minister of Construction Goran Vesic who resigned after the Novi Sad railway station tragedy and is now in custody, that Vesic is his friend and that he does not disown him, adding that he bears objective responsibility.

Vucic told TV Pink that the decision to detain Vesic is incomprehensible to him, because Vesic was not hiding, he will not run away, he cannot influence the witnesses.

"I don't understand any of that, but anything else I would say, someone would interpret as my pressure on the work of our judicial bodies, which I cannot do," said Vucic.

He added that for him it is much more important that we also have to take care of the families of the victims, who are looking for justice and responsibility.

"It's necessary, apart from the political and moral kind that we have shown, for the court to establish responsibility," Vucic said and added that it will be difficult to do that.

"I am sure that it will not be an easy trial, but that justice will be served," concluded Vucic.
