His arrest should have happened more than a decade ago: Brnabic's harsh words after comments about tragedy
President of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic today criticized the claims made by opposition politician Dragan Djilas that the resignations and arrests because of the Novi Sad railway station tragedy did not come quickly enough.
Brnabic told Djilas that his own arrest should have happened a decade ago, and that this proves that not enough has been done about improving the rule of law.
"The prosecution succumbed to pressure of the street and got scared of the worst among us. In return, they received new orders from those who pressured and threatened them - the extremists, criminals, tycoons, thugs, opportunists and political vultures without any scruples or morals. A man who, after 10 years in power, reported that he was 619 million euros richer, says that the arrests are late.
By God, they are. His is more than a decade late. Arresting people for inaction? Well, just start with Djilas and (Bojan) Pajtic. No matter how you look at it, the fact that Djilas is free is proof that we have not done enough when it comes to the rule of law," Brnabic wrote on X.
