Vucic: Serbia's goal to fulfill all EU membership criteria by end of 2026
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said last night that Serbia has another strategic goal, in addition to the completion of the Expo project, which is to fulfill all the criteria for EU membership by the end of 2026.
"I'm not saying that we will join the European Union in 2026 or 2027. That's not up to us, but up to the Europeans. But if we fulfill all the criteria, that's a tremendously ambitious task, just as ambitious as the Expo," said Vucic in his address to the citizens.
He added that Serbia will achieve this goal with high growth rates, with low inflation, which should not exceed 3.5 percent at any moment, with a deficit of no more than 3 percent, as well as with a public debt rate that will not exceed 50 percent.
"Because we don't want to leave debts to our children, we want to take care of their future. This is a big goal, a new strategic goal... the Government of Serbia and the National Assembly will soon put this in their documents," concluded Vucic.
