Kurti makes swift U-turn: Once "clearly upset" just thinking about Trump's victory - now, congratulates him
Kurti has now congratulated Trump, despite previously appearing "upset" at the thought of his victory
Prime Minister of Pristina's provisional institutions Albin Kurti today congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, stating that he "looks forward to working together for progress and peace."
However, in May, Kurti said it was unlikely that the long-term support of the US to so-called Kosovo would change - but added that "(the possibility of) the return of President Trump... causes certain stress and anxiety across the continent, and Kosovo is no different."
As Pristina-based Demokracia reports, "Kurti seemed to be clearly upset and stressed by the thought of Donald Trump's and Republicans' return to the White House, since he had started to 'irritate' official relations with the previous (Trump) administration, and those conflicts continued during the term of Democratic President Joe Biden."
The portal assesses that Kurti's policy, unaligned with Pristina's allies, especially the US, creates irreparable consequences for so-called Kosovo.
Kurti also attended the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on August 19, when Kamala Harris accepted that party's nomination.
