"Her legs were amputated, fight continues" Singer posts distressing news about young woman injured in Novi Sad
Martinko found herself under the part of the entrance to the station as it collapsed
23-year-old Teodora Martinko from Kisac, northern Serbia, was seriously injured in the Novi Sad railway station accident that happened last Friday, when 14 people died.
Doctors are still fighting to save the young woman's life - along with those of two other seriously injured persons.
Martinko found herself under the part of the entrance to the station as it collapsed.
Both her legs and a part of the pelvis had to be amputated.
Singer Ana Kokic, who, like many Serbians, has been deeply shaken by this tragedy, shared a post on social media dedicated to Teodora, who is fighting for her life.
"Teodora Martinko from Kisac, a mother of a 1-year-old child, a medical student. Both her legs and part of her pelvis were amputated! The fight for her life is still ongoing," the Instagram post reads.
Martinko got married in April 2023, and is the mother of a one-year-old girl.
According to some eyewitnesses, Teodora told the rescuers at the scene, "Tell my daughter that her mom loves her very much." These words are still echoing in the hearts and minds of everyone.
The whole of Serbia stands with Teodora, with prayers that she will survive this most difficult fight and return to her family and the baby waiting for her at home.
