EU's Giaufret: Now is the moment to intensify the pace of reforms
The head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, said yesterday that Serbia has opened 22 chapters and that it is in a good position.
However, he expects the opening of new chapters, for which, he emphasized, reforms and progress are needed.
Stressing that now is the moment to intensify the pace of reforms, Giaufret told TV Prva that Serbia must move faster towards the EU.
He also stated that the EU will continue to promote dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, adding that key issues are on the table and that both sides have obligations that they must implement.
"We certainly have to continue the dialogue because there is no other way to solve the situation, especially in order to make the life of the local population better," said Giaufret.
According to him, it is also a fact that the war in Ukraine created a new situation in Europe and changed geopolitics, i.e. led to certain insurgencies, and that is why Europe must make itself bigger and stronger.
He added that membership in the EU brings numerous advantages, among which are visa liberalization and a single payment zone in euros.
