A Telegraf team immediately went to the elementary school named after Vasa Zivkovic in the town of Pancevo (just northeast from Belgrade) - once we learned that just five days ago, a gruesome instance of sexual violence took place there.

As Telegraf previously reported, a second-grader there sexually abused another girl, who is two years older than her, in a very aggressive manner.

The assault took place on October 24. A girl that is only 8 years old followed another - a 10-year-old - into the school bathroom.

She then allegedly threw the victim's glasses into the toilet bowl, and ripped off her pants, and panties.

The victim's mother did not muster the strength to describe, in her public reaction, what happened next - except that her daughter experienced a major trauma.

The principal of the school received our crew, but did not want to comment on the case, except to confirm that they are acting "according to the protocol."

At the same time, she stressed that violence "will not be tolerated."

Previously, concerned parents addressed Telegraf not wanting this case to be covered up, quickly forgotten and, most importantly, not to be repeated.

The presumed victim's mother posted a message to all other parents stating what she said happened, in order to warn them to "teach their daughters to be safe, but also to defend themselves in the event of an attack."

This case is characterized as sexual violence of the second degree.

Who knows how far everything would have gone, if two older schoolgirls had not entered the bathroom at the time, realizing what was happening, and coming to the rescue of the traumatized 10-year-old.
