Von der Leyen visits Serbia, President Vucic met her at the airport: "Welcome"

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived on Friday for a two-day visit to Serbia, and was met at Nikola Tesla Airport by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

"Welcome to Serbia, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. It is a great honor to be able to host you again in our country and an even greater pleasure to be able to show you the progress that Serbia has made since your previous visit," Vucic posted on Instagram.

He added that he and Von der Leyen are expected to have important discussions about relations between Serbia and the EU, Serbia's progress on the EU road and the opportunities that our country wants to take advantage of when it comes to a new momentum in the enlargement process.

"Thank you for your personal engagement and support for Serbia so far. Feel at home here," stated Vucic.

Von der Leyen will be on a working visit to Serbia on Friday and Saturday.

According to the program of the visit, Vucic and Von der Leyen will visit the HTEC group and attend the presentation of projects financed through IPA and the EBRD, it was announced earlier by the Presidency.

After a welcoming ceremony in front of the Palace of Serbia, a meeting between Vucic and Von der Leyen was held, as well as plenary talks between the delegations, followed by the two officials addressing to the media.

It was previously announced from Brussels that Von der Leyen's visit to the Western Balkans would take place in the important context of EU enlargement, and that the focus would be on the enlargement process and growth plans, which are of key importance for partners in the Western Balkans.
