One of the best players in the history of the Serbian national football team, Nemanja Matic, reminded the whole world of a date that will forever be written in black letters in Serbian history.

During the Second World War, on October 21, 1941, a massacre of hundreds of Serbian children took place in the town of Kragujevac, when German occupiers rounded up 300 high school students and murdered them.

Nemanja posted this message on X:

"On this day in 1941, German soldiers committed a massacre in Serbia, killing 300 students and their teachers. Never forget!!,"

After the massacre, witnesses described in detail how the murder of the innocent students was carried out, and the descriptions were often horrific.

"The killings were carried out in the following way: they took people in groups... and thus, under strong guard, took them to the killing grounds, which were located near Susicki Potok, Sumarice and Topovske Supe. The execution sites stretched for tens of kilometers.," a witness to this atrocity later recounted.

"There, they (children) were executed with machine guns and rifles[...] In the meanwhile, everyone waiting for their turn to be killed could hear the firing of machine guns and rifles, while those who were on the way to the killing grounds could, before getting killed themselves, see it all with their own eyes."
