Garbage that collects on the chain barriers on the Potpec (Potpecko) Lake is a major environmental problem for Priboj, a municipality on the Lim River.

In order to solve it as effectively as possible, members of the Municipal Council decided that the collection and removal of the floating waste from on the lake will from now on be carried out by the public company JKP Usluga.

"JKP Usluga has been entrusted with the task of collecting and removing the floating waste from the Potpec Lake, where, due to the circumstances and most often the non-functioning of two chain barriers upstream, in the territories of Nova Varos and Prijepolje, instead of the least, the most amount of floating waste gets accumulated," RINA was told by representatives of the local self-government, who added that the garbage does not come from the Priboj municipality.

"In order to protect the Potpec Lake, the newly built Fisherman's Village and the Lim, as well as energy facilities on the downstream part of the river, the municipality of Priboj has entrusted the work of removing the incoming waste to a municipal utilities company," they added.

Until now, only members of the ecological association Jastreb collected and removed the waste. They are always the first line of defense when it comes to the River Lim.

At the same time, the Priboj councilors gave their consent to the new prices of communal services rendered by JKP Usluga, which did not change in the past five years, i.e. since 2019, although in the meantime there have been many increases in prices of repair materials and equipment, electricity and fuel, labor costs...

Even with the new price increase for utility services, they will be among the lowest in the area, the report said.

The price of water supply for individuals has increased by about 17 percent, and instead of 48 dinars, citizens will now pay 56.2 dinars for a cubic meter of drinking water, while garbage disposal will now cost 7.15 dinars per square meter instead of 6.11 dinars.

For legal entities, the increase in prices of utility services amounts to about 14 percent.
