The owner of a swimming pool maintenance company, Z.A. (65), was arrested yesterday after a 6-year-old boy from Belgrade drowned in a swimming pool in Konak Hotel on Mt. Zlatibor.

It is suspected that there was an oversight on G.I.'s part resulting in the pool pump pulling the child to the bottom, Telegraf.rs has learned.

Z.A. will be held in police custody for up to 48 hours.

The investigation is being conducted by the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Uzice.

"We are waiting for the results of the autopsy. The investigation is ongoing and it includes questioning other persons and determining their possible responsibility, as well as expert testimony," Prosecutor Marko Dimitrijevic told Novosti.

The child was with his grandmother at the time of the accident.

Hotel workers declined to make any comment.

The Batut Institute previously warned that only 20 seconds are enough for death to occur due to drowning.

This is why guardians are advised to be extremely careful when allowing small children into the water.
