Aleksandar Vucic has been given Hungary's high state decoration

At the suggestion of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, President of Hungary Tamas Sulyok has awarded President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, the Presidency has confirmed for Tanjug.

The award was given to Vucic for his work on deepening relations between Hungary and Serbia, and in recognition of his commitment to the development of economic, energy, and security-political strategic cooperation, as well as for his great merit regarding the historical reconciliation of the Hungarian and Serbian peoples, said the explanation of the decision published in the Hungarian Official Gazette, which has been reported by the Hungarian media.

The Grand Cross of the Order of Merit is one of the highest state decorations of the Republic of Hungary, which is awarded to persons for exceptional merit.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Serbia two years ago.
