Here is how much money Serbia will give for medals won at the Paralympic Games in Paris!
These athletes could also earn the same tidy sums
The Paralympic Games will start soon in Paris, where Serbia will have as many as 23 athletes competing in eight sports, and before their trip to France, the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic handed them the flag that they will carry at the opening.
Also, during the ceremonial presentation of the flag, President Vucic gave a speech, when he revealed that Paralympians will receive monetary awards like the athletes who took part in the Olympic Games.
"Our dear athletes, while you are preparing for this trip, know that every step is more than any competition. It is a symbol of victory over obstacles, all of Serbia is with you and will be with you. Every medal is a medal for the whole of Serbia, may our love and support accompany you.
We wish you every success in Paris, that you return with medals and successes that you wished for yourself and that you wished for our country. The awards given by the state of Serbia are the same as those for the Olympians, among the highest in the world.
I want the (state) budget to be emptier after your return from the Paralympic Games, we want many victories, much joy, and if there are no victories, we are always with you. New games will come, when you will have the opportunity to win again. We wish you much success and long live Serbia," said President Vucic.
This means that any athlete who wins a gold medal will earn 200,000 euros from the state, silver will bring them 100,000 euros, and bronze 60,000 euros.
