Interior Minister Ivica Dacic officially confirmed on Sunday on TV Prva that Wahhabi Senad Ramovic Becan was shot and killed the night before in a joint operation carried out by the BIA and the MUP in the area of the Novi Pazar village of Hotkovo.

"It is a joint operation of BIA and MUP and VJT (Higher Public Prosecution) in Novi Pazar," said Dacic.

He added that it was an operation to arrest Becan, who was on the run after a terrorist act committed in front of the Israeli embassy in Belgrade.

Dacic said there was is information that Becam had fled to Kosovo and Metohija after the terrorist attack, but that he was found in Hatkovo in the night between Saturday and Sunday.

"It's his village, but he wasn't in his house. He was found in a house that was a few hundred meters from his own," said Dacic, adding that the house is owned by Becan's brother-in-law, who is currently in prison.

"During the arrest, he shot at the police, fired three or four shots, and then they shot back and killed him," said the minister.

Dacic said that the BIA located Becan, that the services reacted in a coordinated manner and prepared his arrest.

"That operation happened late last night and this is now an official confirmation," said Dacic on Sunday.

The minister recalled that after the terrorist attack at the Israeli embassy - when a Serbian Gendarme was wounded while his attacker, a Serbian citizen, got shot and killed - he was showing videos of the search of an apartment, saying now that it was Becan's apartment.

"You remember the flags and the scenes of I don't know how many knives, swords and everything else that was found in the apartment. After that he fled to Kosovo and Metohija, now he was back and thanks to the intelligence information from his close circles, his whereabouts had been located," said Dacic.
