Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that the National Police of Spain confirmed to the Ministry of Interior of Serbia that a Serbian citizen was killed in the Spanish city of Estepona.

"It was confirmed to us by the National Police of Spain that on August 12, Serbian citizen S.M. (34) from Belgrade was killed in the city of Estepona. The murder was carried out with a firearm, and S.M. died on the spot," said Dacic.

Dacic said that the victim carried false Belgian ID documents.

"According to information available to the Spanish police, for now there is no connection between this event and drug trafficking and organized crime. Interpol Belgrade had issued an international notice for the person, because he was a member of an organized criminal group that was involved in unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs," said the Serbian minister.

"The person had the task related to loading cocaine onto ships, as well as tracking the drugs, and further distribution from European ports, all of which was recorded in communications that took place via the SkyEcc application," said Dacic.
