wildfire in the Sutjeska National Park is still burning, the director of that park, Zoran Cancar, has confirmed.

Sutjeska is located in the RS, the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Attempts to extinguish the fire are difficult because of the strong wind. The fire has spread to a pine forest.

Two helicopters from the RS Helicopter Service are taking part in the operation, as well as a helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The biggest problem will be to put out the fire in the pine forest," Cancar told the Radio of the Serb Republic (RS).

He stressed that it is incomprehensible that institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not give permission for a helicopter of the Ministry of Interior (MUP) of Serbia to join in the efforts to put out the wildfire, which has spread to more than 150 hectares.
