In the morning hours of Monday, a traffic accident happened in Partizanski Put street in Vranje. A driver was stung by a hornet while driving, lost control of the vehicle and hit three parked cars, reports Vranjska Plus TV.

This information has also been confirmed by the local police.

"The man received medical help at the Emergency Reception and Treatment Service in Vranje," they said.

As Telegraf reported (in Serbian) yesterday, there is currently a large number of hornets on Mt. Kosmaj, near Belgrade. According to people who stayed there in the cottages last weekend, swarms of hornets could be seen flying over fruit.

Vladica Stankovic, the best known snake catcher in Serbia, warned all citizens and explained what they should carry with them, in case a hornet attacks. Namely, if they are allergic, their allergy medication, and in any casea the victim should seek medical assistance as soon as possible.

Although most people are more afraid of snakes, Vladica told Telegraf that hornets are actually much more dangerous and explains that there are two types of stings, one of which can be deadly.

"The first is into the muscle where the poison moves more slowly and then there is a sting into an artery, a vein, where the poison spreads faster, the blood pressure drops, people are unable to breathe and there is quick, instant death," he said.

Vladica said that he witnessed cases like the one when a woman stung by a hornet sadly died in just two minutes.

"It is especially dangerous if people are also allergic to hornets, then anaphylactic shock occurs," he added.

These dangerous insects have are forming their nests, that process started already in the spring and is a real work of art.

"The warmer the weather, the more they reproduce, this environment of ours favors them now. It's important to note that they always hatch on the sunny side," says Vladica.

Depending on how warm the year is, 400 to 1000 larvae are hatched and the nest can reach the size of a barrel.
