The search for a man who shot and killed border policeman Nikola Krsmanovic and seriously wounded his colleague Vjekoslav Ilic in Loznica is still ongoing.

The shooting happened when the policemen, during a routine control, stopped a vehicle with Tutin license plates. Both the left and right banks of the Drina River are now being searched, with helicopters and drones also deployed.

A passport issued by the provisional institutions in Pristina and a German ID card in the name of Artan Hajrizi were found at the scene.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic said yesterday that information about Artan Hajrizi's alleged statement that his brother, Faton, took his documents was false, "because if his brother had already been to Germany (illegally), why would he return and then head back to Germany illegally."

Dacic said that this was a terrorist act, so the case is being taken over by the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, because it was an attack on on-duty police officers.

Vjekoslav Ilic, the policeman who was wounded in the shooting near Loznica, is in a stable condition and is conscious. He spoke with Assistant Police Director Dragan Vasiljevic, who told RTS how the attack happened.
