Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that the killing of a policeman and the wounding of another last night in Loznica, western Serbia, was a terrorist attack by Albanian structures from Kosovo and Metohija.

Dacic told RTS that it is being determined whether the attacker is the man whose ID card and passport were found in the car, or whether it was his brother, who escaped from prison in Kosovo and Metohija on July 6.

"He killed the policemen, committed this obvious act of terrorism that comes from Albanian structures in Kosovo and Metohija . This cannot be a coincidence and that is why the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime will deal with this case, because this was an attack against an on-duty officer," said Dacic.

He once again offered his condolences to the family of the victim and announced that he would visit the wounded policeman, adding that he has already spoken to him by phone.

Given that the attacker is on the run, Dacic pointed out that 150 members of the MUP (Serbian Interior Ministry), helicopter and special anti-terrorist units, the Gendarmerie, border police, local police from Sabac and Loznica are all searching for the suspect.

Dacic also announced that everyone who helped the attacker in any way will be arrested, as well as that the MUP has contacted the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in BiH) in case the shooter crossed the Drina River and fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
