Minister Dacic: Election days passed peacefully, police responded to every complaint
Dacic said that the election day passed peacefully, as the OSCE and ODIHR observers also stated
Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader and Internal Minister Ivica Dacic said today that it is a frivolous political game to constantly ask for elections and that this causes political instability, and added that the list on which the SPS joined the SNS and other partners has achieved outstanding results.
He told TV Pink that the opposition demanded elections and that they were shaped to a significant extent according to some of their demands.
The leader of the Socialists assessed that the protests demanded by individual opposition leaders are not receiving mass response and that this is logical.
"If someone lost now and we had a situation where the margin was close, one percent, or I don't know two percent or five percent... The point here is that this is a convincing victory and now what are you going to say about something like that, except that it would be quite logical to congratulate (the winners) and move on," said Dacic.
He pointed out that blockades (by the opposition) would not happen.
"Since there has been various information that the police would not react. We had an HQ which was led by the head of the police administration, and which sat all day and monitored the situation in Serbia. The task of the police was not political. The task of the police is to ensure public order and security on the day of the election. In this respect, the police responded. There were 160 reports and the police came out. Of course, the police are not the ones who qualify certain acts. There was cooperation with the prosecutor's office for that, including the events in Novi Sad," he said.
Dacic said that the (local) elections day passed peacefully, as the OSCE and ODIHR observers also stated.
He pointed out that the CRTA organization filed seven or eight reports and that the police also responded to that.
"I think there was good cooperation between SNS and other partners and that resulted in these (election) results," said Dacic and added that "others should not worry about SPS."
Dacic said that if there were any irregularities, there are deadlines to submit complaints.
"If there are no complaints, then what's there left to talk about. If there is a majority, a government is formed if, if there is no majority, elections are repeated. And that's it. And let's close that story once and for all and turn to some work. Because there are many challenges ahead of us," he said.
Dacic said that the All-Serb Assembly is coming up this weekend and that related activities will start tomorrow.
"I will host my colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police of the Serb Republic (RS) and all those regional police administrations in Serbia and the RS," said the minister.
When it comes to other activities, he added that the ministry launched a traffic safety caravan, together with the Automobile Association and the Agency for Safety and Traffic, the goal of which is to reduce the number of traffic accidents and ensure compliance with regulations.
