Truck driver who ran stop sign, killed one person and injured scores, was on amphetamines
Milan J. fled the scene after the accident, but was soon detained by the police and kept for 48 hours
Milan J. (46), a truck driver, is in police custody after he yesterday, around 10 o'clock, according to unofficial information, caused a serious traffic accident in Stubline while under the influence of amphetamines.
The crash resulted in the death of Momcilo Radosavljevic (56), a bus driver from Baric.
The investigation into this case was taken over by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.
The body of the victim was transported for an autopsy, on the order of the prosecution.
As Telegraf.rs was the first to report yesterday, the truck collided with the bus in Stubline.
Milan was behind the wheel of the truck, while Momcilo was driving the bus.
The emergency medical team confirmed Momcilo's death on the spot.
21 passengers from the bus were admitted to the Obrenovac Health Center, Emergency Center and KBC Bezanijska Kosa.
The first results of the investigation indicate that Milan ran a stop sign, crashing into the front of the bus. After the accident, he got out of the vehicle and ran away. However, he was soon detained, Inerior Minister Ivica Dacic announced yesterday.
On the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was detained for up to 48 hours.
