Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic has offered his condolences to the leadership and people of Iran in the wake of the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

"I was shaken by the news of the tragic deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian, as well as other members of a high delegation.

The Iranian people are left without a dedicated leader, loyal to his country and the high office he held. Serbia has lost a proven and important friend and an important partner with whom we worked sincerenly for the benefit of the traditional closeness between our peoples.

I had the honor of attending the presidential inauguration of Ebrahim Raisi, as a special envoy of the president of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic, and the pleasure of us achieving close and fruitful cooperation from the first days of his mandate.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was committed to constantly improving relations with Serbia, on which I had good cooperation with him for years while I was the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

Our close cooperation was also confirmed recently, when I had the honor of speaking by phone with the Iranian head of diplomacy regarding the proposal of a UN resolution on Srebrenica, on which occasion Minister Abdolahiyan showed a great understanding for Serbia's views.

The passing of President Raisi and the members of his high-ranking delegation is a huge loss for Iran, its people and state leadership, because of which I express my deepest condolences," stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic.
