Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin has congratulated Victory Day, marked on May 9 in memory of victory over fascism in WW2, by saying that no one gifted the Serbs their place in the anti-Hitler coalition, "and that is why May 9 is Victory Day in Serbia."

"The names of the state and army have been changing, but the Serbs have not. We don't alter history, we don't change our beliefs, we don't change the names of our holidays. We were also anti-fascists, the only nation in the whole of Europe that didn't send a single soldier to fight (with Germans) at Stalingrad.

No one gifted the Serbs their place in the anti-Hitler coalition, and that is why May 9 is Day of Victory over Fascism in Serbia, and we celebrate it as Victory Day, our victory. Happy holiday to all free nations," Aleksandar Vulin said.
