Serbian basketball federation reacts to Jokic's NBA MPV title: Does this mean he will play for Serbia?
The Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) has congratulated the Denver Nuggets ace
Nikola Jokic wrote a new chapter in the history of the NBA, as he won the award for the most valuable player of the league for the third time, and the Basketball Federation of Serbia took to social media to congratulate him.
Jokic won this flattering recognition for the third time in the last four years and became only the ninth player with three or more MVP honors.
"For the third time, the most valuable player of the NBA is our Nikola Jokic! In this way, the Serbian national team member wrote another page in the history of our sport, the NBA and basketball at the global level. We are proud of Nikola! Congratulations!," read the post on the official KSS account.
Jokic averaged 26.4 points with 12.4 rebounds and nine assists during the regular season.
Serbia fans are most interested in whether Jokic will play at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, since last year he missed the world championships, saying he was tired after a busy NBA season during which his team won the title.
This message from the KSS, as well as the fact that he has been described as a member of the Serbian national team, to many people seems to be a good sign when it comes to Jokic's possible participation in the Olympic Games.
Jokic and Denver are currently down 0-2 in the semifinals of the Western Conference, having lost both games at home.
Jokic will play next for Denver in Minnesota on Saturday.
