Xi's message for Vucic: "You are exceptional statesman with strategic vision"

Xi said that he was deeply moved by the welcome of the citizens of Serbia

President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping said today in Belgrade that he was deeply impressed by his meeting with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, whom he referred to as an exceptional statesman.

"You are an exceptional statesman with a strategic vision, with a sense of historical responsibility. Under your leadership, Serbia maintained stability, achieved rapid economic development, and people's standard of living and lives improved," Xi said to Vucic.

Xi added that he was deeply moved by the welcome that the citizens of Serbia gave him as he appeared on the balcony of the Palace of Serbia and pointed out that it made him even more convinced of the friendship and cooperation between Serbia and China, which he said makes him glad.

"In China, we say that mountains cannot meet, but people can. In China, we say that great geographical distances cannot separate people when there are mutual affinities. You invited me many times, Mr. President, to visit your friendly country, and I am here today. Yesterday you said you hoped I would feel at home and now I really feel quite comfortable and pleasant here. I can really feel the hospitality of your country and between good friends there should always be more exchanges, more interaction," said the president of China.

He stressed that Vucic has been to China several times in previous years and that they had were involved in joint engagements on other occasions.

The Chinese leader is on an official, two-day visit to Serbia.
