The police are looking for Dejan Popovic, a suspect in the brutal liquidation of Mario Simovic (44) that happened on the premises of the Marteks factory in Preljina, near the town of Cacak, central Serbia.

The murder, which happened this morning around 10 o'clock, has upset the public in Serbia.

"The showdown happened before noon and it shocked us all. A man entered the premises, invited him (the victim) to talk. Then he took out a gun and shot him. Simovic was dead on the spot. The motive for the murder is apparently a previous conflict and unresolved relations," said an eyewitness.

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Cacak ordered the body of the murder victim to be sent for an autopsy.

Who is the victim?

Simovic, who was killed today, had previous convictions in two cases of extortion, four cases of usury, where he gave loans with a monthly interest rate of 10 percent, two cases of fraud and illegal trade, while he and his parents were accused of money laundering.

In 2012, the Higher Court in Cacak ordered the temporary confiscation of his and his family's entire property.

Simovic and his parents Ilija and Svetlana were afterwards deprived of the use of three houses, three apartments, two hospitality venues, a company, five cars and six lots of land in Preljina.

The police have launched a search for the suspect, Dejan Popovic.
