The Gendarmerie is engaged in searching the fields in the village of Luka, near Bor, eastern Serbia, where one of the suspect in the killing of Danka Ilic (2) is from. A large-scale search operation is underway, says our reporter.

The police in Bor earlier in the day arrested employees of the public utility company "Vodovod" ("waterworks") in this town - Srdjan Jankovic (50) from the village of Luka, and Dejan Dragijevic (50) from the village of Zlot.

The two are suspected of being responsible for the killing of Danka Ilic, a toddler who was about to turn two years old next moth.

The little girl's body has not yet been found as of Thursday afternoon.

We have learned that the two suspects are believed to have hit the child while driving a company car, to then put the body in the trunk, and then throw in at a garbage dump. It is currently suspected that the girl was alive after she was hit by the vehicle, and that the suspects were intoxicated at the time.

"They agreed to clean the car with bleach to remove traces of blood. However, one drop was still observed (in the car) and submitted for testing," said our source.

Jankovic is suspected of having hit a pedestrian, 2-year-old Danka, on March 26 while driving a Fiat Panda, in Radomira Putnika Street, killing the child.

Together with his colleague Dragijevic, they are reported to have put the body in the trunk of the vehicle, after which they drove to an illegal garbage dump on Starobanjski Put (Road) near Bor, throwing the body on the right side of the road.

However, Danka's body has not yet been found at this site.

Jankovic is suspected of committing a serious crime against the safety of public traffic, and Dragijevic of helping the perpetrator after the crime was committed. After their arrest, both are in police detention that can last up to 48 hours.

The investigation carried out by the criminal police in Bor indicates that everything took place on March 26 at around 13:52., that is, only seven minutes after the girl disappeared, according to the mother's report.

"Jankovic is accused of not adjusting the speed of the vehicle to the condition of the road, as a result of which he hit the girl with the front right part of the vehicle and killed her," said a source from the investigation.

Danka Ilic went missing on March 26 around Banjsko Polje near Bor. She was with her mother and brother, also a toddler, when she disappeared.

The case was the first to activate the "Pronadji me" ("Find me" - Serbian version of Amber Alert) in our country.
