Vucic with Dodik and Patriarch Porfirije: Serbia and Serb Republic to hold Great Easter Assembly
A joint conclusion was reached that on May 5 and 6 in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia and the RS, the Great Easter Assembly will be held
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spoke on Monday with President of the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik and Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije, and pointed out that this was one of the most important meetings.
"One of the most significant meetings with His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and President of the Serb Republic Milorad Dodik," the president wrote on his Instagram account @buducnostsrbijeav.
"After several hours of talks RS President Milorad Dodik and I, in the presence of His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije, reached a joint conclusion that the Great Easter Assembly between the Republic of Serbia and the Serb Republic will be held on May 5 and 6 in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia and the RS," said the president's cabinet.
"At that Assembly, important decisions will be made about the survival of the Serb people in their homes, their economic progress, the preservation of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic script, and the common cultural heritage. The new Government of Serbia and the Government of the RS will prepare a declaration and possibly other general legal acts that will be submitted as the same text for adoption to the National Assemblies of the Republic of Serbia and the RS," it was added.
"We informed Serbian Patriarch Porfirije about the gravity of the political situation in which the entire Serb people find themselves and asked His Holiness for the blessing and support of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We will inform the public about all other details in the coming period," the statement concluded.
