The Basic Court in Pristina today extended the detention of returnee Zarko Zaric from Ljubozda near Istok, who is suspected by the judiciary in Pristina of alleged war crimes.

Zaric will remain in custody for another two months, his defense attorney Dejan Vasic announced.

"Zaric is a returnee with permanent residence in Ljubozda and is always available to the investigating authorities. We asked that he be placed under house arrest. The court did not accept that, and I will try to change this decision in the appeal procedure before the appellate court," Vasic told RTS.

Zaric was arrested on August 5 last year in front of his house in Ljubozda, on charges of allegedly committing a war crime.

He returned to his native village in 2017 and has not left Kosovo and Metohija since then.
