2 Syrians got kidnapped: Gang kept them tied up for 14 days in a house in Belgrade, demanded €300,000 ransom
Among those detained are citizens of Syria, Jordan and Iraq
In a major operation carried out by the police and the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, an international gang, that kidnapped two Syrian citizens, has been arrested.
The news has been confirmed for Telegraf.rs.
Among those detained are citizens of Syria, Jordan and Iraq.
They are suspected of kidnapping two Syrians and keeping them tied up in a house in Mladenovac, a suburban Belgrade municipality, since February 10.
The kidnappers demanded about hundreds of thousands of euros from the family of the victims in order to to release them alive.
The investigation is ongoing.
Two Syrian citizens that have been freed suffered minor injuries.
Subsequent reports said that the victims were kept in separate rooms, handcuffed and with feet tied up. They were also beaten with wood bats, and threatened with murder - as they were forced to contact their family members via video calls and plead with them to pay the ransom money, totalling €300,000.
The kidnappers are now held by Serbian law enforcement.
