The Belgrade Marathon will be held on April 28 in the Serbian capital, and more than 5,500 runners have signed up to participate in the half-marathon and marathon races, it was announced today.

A press release recalls that the Belgrade Marathon will be held on the streets of the Serbian capital this year for the 37th time.

There is great interest in participating in half-marathon and marathon races. The number of runners will be limited to 12,000, and so far more than 5,500 participants have registered.

Considering that almost half of the places are already filled, the organizers of the Belgrade Marathon are informing all running fans to reserve their place in time and be part of a unique running experience.

Modeled on the world's largest marathons, the Belgrade Marathon Running Club started its work in Serbia last March, which prepares all interested runners in a professional and expert manner for the 10, 21 and 42 kilometer races.

There are three months left until this sports event, and according to Marko Marinkovic, manager of the Belgrade Marathon Running Club, it is the right time to start training.

"At Ada Ciganlija, we organize three training sessions a week, led by our best marathon runner, Velimir Bojovic. The trained is done in a group, which allows runners to get the most out of themselves. The idea was to give our contribution to the best possible preparation of competitors, but also to influence by our example that as many people as possible start running. We do our best to make everyone who runs with us be a better version of themselves. What I especially want to emphasize is that we prepare our club members not only for the races organized by the Belgrade Marathon, but also for other events, so together with our 30 members we will travel to marathons in Barcelona, Porto and Athens," pointed out Marinkovic.

The best Serbian marathon runner, Velimir Bojovic, finished the 42-kilometer race last year in Valencia with a time of 2:26:57.

He stressed that running as a physical activity has a very positive effect on health, and that over time it can grow into great love and passion, you just need to try it.

"All those who train with us will definitely reach the goal more easily. There is definitely a lot of good energy around the Belgrade Marathon. I think people recognize that and that's why they are coming more and more. There is no doubt that the organization of the event itself is professionalized and this is felt at every step, so the Belgrade Marathon will grow in every aspect in the future. I have participated in numerous marathon races around the world and Belgrade is not behind them in any segment," said Bojovic.

This year's Belgrade Marathon will also be the marathon championship of Serbia and the Balkans.

"That is one of the reasons that I will participate in the 37th Belgrade Marathon, and at the same time, all of this will be an additional competitive motive. Also, I already know that I will participate in the marathon in Berlin in September and I hope for good results this year," concluded Bojovic.
