TERRIBLE Man brutally beaten on New Year's Eve died on Orthodox Christmas: 2 young men arrested in Pancevo
The victim's battle to survive lasted 7 days
N.G. (19) and A.B. (21) have been arrested in cooperation with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Pancevo on suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of inflicting grievous bodily harm, as a result of which they endangered the life of the victim, D.J.
The man died on January 7 (when Christmas is celebrated in Serbia).
During the New Year's Eve celebrations in Pancevo a week earlier, the suspects are believed to have physically attacked D.J. by hitting him several times on the head and body, using hands and feet, and then carrying the victim, who was unconscious, to behind the Pancevo Archives building and leaving him there, where he was eventually found by SZHMP Pancevo.
The Basic Public Prosecution in Pancevo proposed to the the Basic Court in that town to keep suspects N.G. and A.B. in custody considering special circumstances that indicate that they might interfere in the proceedings by influencing witnesses.
After D.J. died on Christmas Day, that is, on January 7, the Basic Prosecution in Pancevo issued an order to perform an autopsy, after which it will refer the case files to the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Pancevo, as the competent prosecutor's office, for further action.
