Last night, according to Dejan Djuric, who rented the raft to celebrate his birthday, the water started entering the vessel at around 11:45 pm, but everyone got out calmly, showing no fear or panic

Dejan Djuric, who celebrated his birthday on the raft-tavern Boem in Smederevo, into which water began to penetrate late last night, revealed to Telegraf what happened and when they noticed that the raft was filling with water.

Last night, according to Dejan Djuric, who rented the raft to celebrate his birthday, the water started entering the vessel at around 11:45 pm, but everyone got out calmly, showing no fear or panic.

"Last night I celebrated my birthday on the raft. Around 11:45 pm, we noticed that water was coming in from the front. We emptied the raft without panic or any commotion. There were no injuries. Later, the police and firemen came. The raft, as much water as it took in last night, is still afloat. Today we hope to pull it out," says Dejan, who is a friend of the owner of the establishment.

He says that the exact cause of the incident is still unknown.

"The cause of the water penetrating the raft is still unknown, but according to the owner, it was not over capacity. We won't know until we lift the raft up. It's not known if the pontoon gave way and started taking on water or if it came across a tree stump below and got stranded," says Dejan.
