N.P. beat the police officer A.N. who was on duty while in a cafe in Vracar, a central Belgrade municipality, and it all started when members of the MUP (Interior Ministry) entered the bar, and the suspect asked them - "Is there a problem?"

A.N. at this point showed his badge and said - "police" - but N.P. first headbutted him, punched him next, and then broke his finger as the officer tried to take him into custody. The injuries have been characterized as serious and the case has been taken over by the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office.

N.P. was questioned at the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office and, and we have been told, he confessed to the crime.

"He admitted that he attacked the police officer. He hit him on the head and since he broke his finger, it is a matter of serious physical injury. The attacker has no criminal record, so he is free pending the outcome of court proceedings, and he will undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Members of the MUP will also be questioned, that is, the policeman who was attacked and his colleague who was with him. Witnesses will be questioned, too, more precisely, people who witnessed this incident," we have been told.

On the order of the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office, the attacker was previously detained.

The assault on the police took place on November 22 at around 7 pm in central Belgrade.
