Emergency situations were declared in Nova Varos, Sjenica, Babusnica and part of the territory of Vranje
The situation today has significantly improved compared to the weekend, and members of the Interior Ministry (MUP) Sector for Emergency Situations (SVS) have evacuated 47 citizens, as part of 31 interventions.
We learned from the head of the administration for the fire-fighting and rescue units of the SVS MUP that 101 members of these units, who are on the ground with 47 vehicles, participated in the operations.
During the day on Sunday, they had a smaller number of rescue and evacuation missions, helping citizens affected by the first major snowfall in Serbia.
We also learned from Davor Vidovic that, fortunately, "the roads are more passable than they were and EPS (power company) teams are trying to improve the supply of electricity to all consumers."
He also stated that emergency situations were declared in Nova Varos, Sjenica, Babusnica and part of the territory of Vranje.
In addition to 47 trucks and other vehicles, there are also ATVs and snowmobiles in the field, that are used to reach vulnerable citizens who are in poorly accessible and remote areas.
In addition to the fire and rescue units, conditions have also been created for members of the Serbian Ministry of Defense to join in the effort, as emergency situations got declared in some municipalities.
The Army's work mainly involves removing fallen trees and clearing roads, Vidovic said.
