In the continuation of an operation to suppress irregular migration, led by the assistant director of Police, Police General Dejan Lukovic, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) yesterday found a total of 738 irregular migrants in the territory of the towns of Subotica, Sombor, Kikinda and Pirot, the MUP announced.

During the operation, the police inspected 32 facilities, as well as 5,096 vehicles, and in the territory of the Kikinda alone they found and seized a total of 87 foreign passports and six identity cards.

Also, misdemeanor charges based on the Law on Border Control were filed against seven irregular migrants, while criminal charges were filed against two persons at the competent prosecutor's office in Pirot for the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling.

In the coming days, the police will take increased measures and engage all forces in implementing this operation to suppress irregular migration so that the citizens feels even safer and more secure.
