Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic has said that she had a short and good meeting with Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, and that he is familiar with the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.

"He hopes for peace. He is currently dealing with the war in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine. They all expect us to keep things under control and not have another conflict in Europe," Brnabic told reporters in New York.

She added that Serbia has significant support from the United Nations and its UNMIK mission.

"I have nothing to complain about regarding the UNMIK report, it is factually correct," said Brnabic.

She stressed that conflict is not in Serbia's interest, instead that Serbia needs peace and stability. At the same time, she said that Belgrade cannot leave the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija in the lurch.

"We have to fight diplomatically. Compromise is the only way out of this situation," said Brnabic.

The prime minister added that "it will never be easy," and that Serbia is not "running away from difficult things, but it is known what the red lines are."
