Novak Djokovic has arrived in Valencia, where he will play for Serbia against Spain in Group C of the Davis Cup on Friday.

Serbia has already defeated South Korea in the first round without the help of Djokovic, and now the complete team is waiting for the ties against the two most difficult opponents - Spain and the Czech Republic.

After a training session, Djokovic held a press conference where he stated that he was sorry that he would not compete with Carlos Alcaraz in Valencia.

"It's true that I was hoping to play against Carlos here in Valencia. He is a player I have a lot of respect for. Every time I faced him, it was very difficult, he is a great person and an amazing player. First with Rafa, now with Alcaraz, Spain has a great tennis tradition. But I'm from Serbia and these days I'll do everything to defeat Spain," Djokovic told reporters.

Instead of Alcaraz, Djokovic will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Friday.

"Alejandro is my friend, he is a very close person to me and my family. In the last two or three years, we trained together many times in Marbella, it will be a very difficult match for both of us. I'm happy to be in Valencia, it's been a long time since I've been here. I think the last time was more than 15 years ago," Djokovic said.

Serbia will play against Spain on Friday, starting at 15.00. First, Laslo Djere will square off with Bernabe Zapata Miralles, and then Novak Djokovic with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. If necessary, the winner of the tie will be decided in a doubles match.
