Father and daughter Budimir and Marina Krstovic have been acquitted of charges of smuggling 1.2 tons of cocaine by the Higher Court in Podgorica.

The court date lasted about 30 minutes since it was only established that numerous documents from the Police Administration, the Revenue and Customs Administration, as well as the Forensic Center in Danilovgrad, and witness statements had been read, while the accused and the prosecutor stuck to their earlier statements.

It was established that the evidentiary proceedings were completed, and the senior state prosecutor, the defense attorneys and the accused did not change their arguments as they presented their closing remarks, Podgorica media reported.

The Krstovics were arrested in August 2021, after the police found 1,200 kilograms of cocaine in their warehouse in the village of Mojanovici.

The father and the daughter claimed that they had nothing to do with the drugs found on their property.
