Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said today that the Vidovdan Declaration, which was read on Tuesday at the gatherings in Kosovska Mitrovica and Gracanica, is testimony to the suffering of the Serbs in the previous period, especially in recent months from, as he said, the cruelty of Albin Kurti, but also to the determination of the Serb people to defend their right to live in Kosovo and Metohija.

He told RTS that the Declaration also mentions the Serbs shot since the beginning of the year, and the names of the eight arrested Serbs who are now in Pristina's jails.

"They are there because Kurti wants to expel the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. Every day they a step is made away from normalization. We will fight to preserve peace, which the Serbs said in the Declaration. Now is the time to form the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities)," said Petkovic.

He congratulated Vidovdan and stressed that it is the most important Serbian holiday "woven into the identity of the Serb people."
