Today in Paris, our country was chosen to host the International Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027.

"This is a huge success for Serbia, I saw how much knowledge and energy people from our team invested in this," said the president of Serbia.

"After 32 years, a decision was made to hold a specialized exhibition in South Eastern Europe. This means that as soon as tomorrow we start big works not far from the National Stadium. That part of Surcin, as well as the entire lower Srem, will experience incredible prosperity and development. Our estimate is that 2.6 million tourists will visit Expo 2027 in four years. The total economic effect is 1.1 billion euros," added Vucic.

He stressed that this will also mean the possibility for the hospitality industry to flourish, as well as for our national air carrier.

"Literally everything, this is an opportunity for investors from all over the world to come. We expect about 197 countries. This is an incredible opportunity for the promotion of our country, and now we have to build the best fair space, and at the same time, accommodation facilities that can later be repurposed and given to certain categories of residents who have not solved their housing issue."

Vucic stressed that this is another big economic step forward.

"Just one year later, we will launch the first (Belgrade) Metro line. In a few days we will open the bypass around Belgrade. Now we have to do our best to justify the trust of the whole world and to show that we can be a most successful host," added Vucic.

He also thanked US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken for congratulating Serbia on this news.

Serbia won in each of the four rounds of voting at the General Assembly of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), while competing with the US, Thailand, Spain, and Argentina.

Serbia's concept-theme is: "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All."

This theme addresses the importance of play, sport and music in human evolution and development with the intention of empowering both participants and visitors to explore how these ancient creative "tools" of humanity can help solve some of today's most complex global challenges.

Apart from government representatives, our country's campaign during the Expo 2027 candidacy period included our well-known artists and athletes, such as Stefan Milenkovic, Miki Manojlovic, Novak Djokovic, Tijana Mandic, Lena Kovacevic, Milica Mandic, Jelena Gavrilovic, Sanja Kerkez, and many others.
