As many as 14 rivers in Serbia could flood: 4 regions to be hit by heavy rain
Today and tomorrow it will be dry only in the extreme northwest of Vojvodina
The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) has issued a notice warning of heavy rainfall in Serbia today and tomorrow, and it has also been specified which rivers may overflow.
"It will be cloudy today with rain and local showers that will be accompanied by thunder in some places. The greater amount of precipitation will fall in the second part of the day. In southwestern, southern, central and eastern Serbia, in some places, 30 to 50 millimeters (per square meter) are expected within 12 hours, in some places even more," announced the RHMZ.
The weather will remain the same, it is added.
"On Friday, June 16, cloudy and cool weather will remain with occasional rain, in the eastern, southeastern and southern regions of Serbia with conditions for heavy precipitation, another 20 to 50 millimeters may fall within 24 hours," the warning states.
Today and tomorrow it will be dry only in the extreme northwest of Vojvodina, the northern Serbian province:
"Later, weather will be intermittently cloudy and gradually warmer, especially from Tuesday when in most places the highest daily temperature will be around 30 degrees Celsius. From Saturday, precipitation will be weakening, and from Sunday it is expected mainly in the east and south of the country."
The RHMZ warning includes a list of rivers that could flood.
"In the coming days, small scale torrential water flows could flood from Kolubara, Jadar, upper Zapadna and Juzna Morava, Ibar, Nisava, Toplica, Rasina, Majur, Belica and Crnica basins, as well as Mlava, Pek and Timok basins," said the RHMZ.
