Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Milos Vucevic met today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Raul Bartolome Molina, the Ministry of Defense announced.

Minister Vucevic thanked the Kingdom of Spain for its principled stance on the issue of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called "Kosovo", as well as for the recent vote against, regarding Pristina's bid to become a member of the Council of Europe (CoE), which is an indicator of consistency in respecting the sovereignty of other states.

He stressed that Serbia strongly supports the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Spain and pointed to the sincere friendship between the two countries.

The minister of defense expressed his satisfaction with the achieved level of cooperation in the field of defense and emphasized the joint participation in multinational operations, especially the joint engagement in the United Nations UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.

He pointed to the determination to continue military cooperation and the development of cooperation in the field of the defense industry, as well as the importance of continuing the started activities of military-economic and military-technical cooperation, such as profiling further forms of cooperation at the level of research and development institutions and defense industries of the two countries.

Ambassador Molina said that the position of the Kingdom of Spain not to recognize so-called "Kosovo" remains unchanged and that this country continues to strongly support Serbia's demands for the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also assessed that there is room for improving cooperation in the field of defense, especially in the defense industry, and stressed the readiness of the Kingdom of Spain to continue joint engagement in multinational operations, as well as intensifying military cooperation.

Ambassador Molina praised the professional attitude of the members of the Serbian Army who are deployed within the Spanish contingent in Sector East in the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.
