"The occupation gauleiter Albin Kurti today unequivocally showed that he wants and dreams of war and to lead the entire north of Kosovo and Metohija into conflict!

Today, he ordered his councilor Aida Ferata to include on the agenda of the session of the Municipal Assembly in northern Kosovska Mitrovica the item about the opening of the bridge over the Ibar River, which divides the northern and southern parts of the city and which represents an important security bulwark for Serbs in Kosovo.

The goal of this unilateral and illegal move by Kurti is to lead to new tensions and provocations at the expense of the peaceful Serb people in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.

For that, he uses his illegitimate and false representatives and councilors in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. 11 councilors from Pristina voted in favor of this decision, while one abstained and one was against.

The opening of the bridge on the Ibar is a matter for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, not the local illegal Kurti's gauleiters.

I immediately informed all international representatives, as well as the mediator in the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, about this latest war-mongering move by Kurti, and we expect them to calm down and rein in Kurti, who is doing everything to escape the obligation to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) and to destroy the dialogue in Brussels on May 2.

There can be no progress or normalization of relations as long as Kurti makes such unilateral moves by which he wants to bring the entire north of Kosovo into a state of war, and it is up to the West to prevent such moves by Pristina," said Petkovic.
