President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that he has not seen the prepared report of the European Parliament on Serbia, but that it is clear that our country must pay the price for its independence and sovereign policy.

That's how Vucic answered the journalists' question about the way he will react to EP's rather negative report on Serbia, which has not yet been adopted and made official, but has been agreed on and contains many critical messages.

"Serbia has to pay the price for its independence and sovereign policy, and it's not a problem that we are paying it. I'm ready to shoulder that kind of blow and I have no problem with that. I'm not even upset about it," said Vucic.

He noted that he has not seen that text yet, but that every time there are many critical messages.

"It is understandable, I listen to them every day, most will be about (Serbia) not imposing sanctions against Russia, and many others follow from that, which is all quite logical. It is important to me that they will praise elections in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, that will have a turnout of one percent, and then explain to us that these are the highest European values, and I will congratulate them on that," Vucic said.

He added that he is much more interested in being told how the Serbian economy works, since we get political lectures about that as well.

"Although the Serbian economy lags far behind the most developed European countries, it is reducing this difference compared to their economies, because our economy has a higher growth rate than theirs and has a lower rate of public debt than the average in the eurozone and the EU. Our fiscal and monetary sphere is functioning perfectly and I am satisfied on that issue," said Vucic.

He added that he is more interested in how people in Serbia see our progress.

"We will read all that carefully. They fight to condemn state-owned companies on behalf of a tycoon and his private company, and I will always be on the side of the state and its money and capital, that is natural and serious behavior," said Vucic.
