There was stench, we couldn't go inside: Residents don't know how a man's body got in their building
The man whose body was found lived in the basement of a store where he worked
A decomposing body of a man was found today in the basement of a building on Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard in Belgrade after the neighbors alerted the police due to unbearable stench.
"The man who was found lived in a basement room, but not in this building but in an adjacent store. He was a worker in that store. He was bringing all kinds of things there. Two weeks ago we sensed a stench, we thought it was coming from his place because he dragged all sorts of things in there, it was dirty. We saw guys who were coming there to clean at that time.
We think he was transferred to the basement substation located in our building. He did not live in there. We could not enter there, only the electrical company workers can enter. One could get in from the building, but we don't have the keys," one resident told Telegraf.rs.
He added that the stench became unbearable, so they alerted the police.
Telegraf's reporter at the scene confirmed that unbearable stench was spreading from the basement space.
