Dacic: I may not go to Strasbourg because of initiative to let so-called of Kosovo into Council of Europe
"If anyone thinks that we will look forward to it or support it, I think they are absolutely on the wrong path," Dacic said
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said yesterday that he may not travel to Strasbourg on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Serbia's admission to the Council of Europe (CoE) because of announcements that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will start the procedure and discussion in order to make so-called of Kosovo a member of that organization, on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Brussels agreement.
"What kind of message is that? It's humiliation and a message that Kosovo can do whatever it wants. If those announcements are true, I will certainly not go to Strasbourg tomorrow," Dacic told a joint press conference with Gabon's Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yolande Nyonda, and added that "something that is not a state has never been admitted to the Council of Europe."
He pointed out that it is impossible to defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine on the one hand, while destroying the territorial integrity of Serbia on the other.
"If anyone thinks that we will look forward to it or support it, I think they are absolutely on the wrong path," Dacic said.
The minister of foreign affairs also asked how far Pristina has come with the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) in Kosovo and Metohija.
"They have been lying for ten years that they will form it. Such a message raises questions about Serbia's future stance towards the Council of Europe, the participation of President Vucic, who is at the summit in Iceland. We will certainly not allow anyone to humiliate Serbia," Dacic said.
He added that he does not know whether allowing so-called Kosovo to become a member will be on the agenda, but that Serbia "will not let its constructiveness be seen as a weakness."
"We will not allow that. Will Kosovo, ten years after signing the Brussels agreement and rejecting the obligation (from the agreement) to form the ZSO, be rewarded by starting the procedure for its admission. That is such a foul, it is unforgivable," said Dacic.
