Damage snow did to fruit to be known in coming days: "We are waiting, now is the most sensitive phase..."
According to meteorologists, it should stop snowing today
The snow that was falling in western Serbia for more than 24 hours has caused the most damage to fruit farmers.
The blossoming fruit trees are covered in several centimeters of snow, so the question is what will remain of this season's yield. Telegraf Biznis also wrote about it yesterday, primarily with reference to apricots, peaches, potatoes...
"In the Cacak region, most fruit crops are in full bloom, and that is the most sensitive phase, the most sensitive to low temperatures. This cold weather has caused certain problems, but so far there have been no major consequences or damage. But we will see what will happen.
What is important is that if precipitation, i.e., snow covers the flowers, even some frost that would cause more damage would be repaired and would not cause greater damage. We are waiting, we will see what this will produce in the coming period," fruit farmer Milan Eric told Tanjug.
According to meteorologists, it should stop snowing today, but unfortunately the damage caused by this April snow will accumulate in the following days.
